About Me
Who
I am Joseph Pelletier, a passionate full stack software developer and GNU/Linux systems administrator, just like it says in the banner ;) You can call me Mr. Pelletier or just Joe. I know several programming languages and I love learning them. Well, really, I love learning in general. I love to understand, and am exceptionally good at generally understanding things. I can see the connections between concepts, and when I'm wrong I adapt extremely quickly, if you blink you will miss it. For me it's about finding the truth or the best solution or answer, not about looking good or "winning". I'm also an artist, see Other Skills.
I do not like to waste time with repetitive tasks, they will be done by my code, not by my hand. I am of the programmer's mentality, twelve hours writing code to automate a one hour task that needs to be done eight times is an excellent time investment: code does not make mistakes, it is very fast, it can be reused, and the task will always come up again.
At heart, I am an inventor, an innovator, a problem solver, with a very long history. As a kid, that's what I always said I would be: an inventor. Throughout school I lead many team science and engineering projects to be best in the class. Today, I am a great software developer and systems administrator; and I can lead. Tomorrow, I aspire and plan to achieve more, to be a great roboticist and leader, to do good in the world against all odds, to change it for the better.
Premonition
There is one famous photo of me as a toddler siting in front of a pale yellow cathode ray tube monitor, thicker than it was wide, playing on the keyboard. Later, in the second grade, my class was asked to draw what we would be when we grew up, I drew myself at a terminal, taking care of a supper computer. I only discovered my past premonition after I got my degree, and it's amazing to find out that I had always known, albeit vaguely, what I was going to do.
Where
I currently live in Plainville, a small town in central Connecticut in the United States, a couple hours west of the the east coast and about about half a day's drive south from Canada. I've lived here for just about my entire life, but a house is not a home, I will be leaving for Europe to make a home with my wife in the coming year, 2024.
Professional
I have been studying and practicing my craft for more than 8 years as of writing this, since early in the summer of 2015. I earned my degree: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Central Connecticut State University. You can read more about my education there, or see a detailed list of my relevant experience there.
